History

Established in 1989 on Lambton Quay, Central City Physiotherapy Clinic has provided quality physiotherapy to the Wellington CBD for over 35 years. With quality at its core the practice provides professional sports level advice and treatment to the Wellington public and sports associations alike.

Team

Paul Butler – Principal Physiotherapist
BPhty, Adv Dip MYO

A Wellingtonian, Paul’s career has spanned the globe. From the American and Australian swim teams, professional rugby league to Olympic GB track athletes. He is now excited to be involved with elite athletes throughout NZ.

Kara Mulvein – Senior Physiotherapist
MSc Manip Therapy, BSc (Hons)

Kara has over 30 years of extensive clinical experience in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and France including working with the British Military and owning and managing her own physiotherapy clinic in Wellington. She specialises in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy and has interests in spinal problems, shoulders, hips and knees. She combines manual therapy, movement rehabilitation and strengthening in her treatment.

Rob Cashman – Senior Physiotherapist

Rob has a history of excellence in physiotherapy since 1986. He owned and ran Cashman Physiotherapy on the Terrace in Wellington for 31 years and has completed further study in Manipulative Physiotherapy, Acupuncture and the McKenzie Method. He has a special interest in spinal problems and sports injuries.

Over the years he has been the physiotherapist for the All Whites, the NZ rugby Union (NZ Sevens , Māori All Blacks , NZ Universities,  All Black Development teams) and the NZ Blacksox Softball team.

Loralee Reid – Senior Physiotherapist
MSPT

Loralee has a long history of clinical experience in Physiotherapy, both in the US and NZ. She trained in the US but has now spent more time in New Zealand, and has worked in both Hospital and private Practice. She uses manual techniques from a variety of courses along with patient education, manipulation and stretching. She enjoys Musculo-skeletal work and seeing people back in action.

Charissa Hooi – Physiotherapist
BPhty

Charissa is a people person, and she enjoys the process of helping clients work through their injuries. She employs techniques such as soft tissue therapy, manual therapy & dry needling, in combination with sound strengthening programs. Charissa creates structured exercise programs, ensuring a sound understanding of the biomechanical chain; resulting in long term benefits for her clients. She believes in encouraging independence & self-efficacy with client’s rehab.

Facilities

We have a welcoming reception and well appointed treatment rooms in an earthquake strengthened building.
